Premier Li Keqiang Attended the Third Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders' Meeting

    Chinese Premier Li Keqiang attends the third Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) leaders' video conference at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, capital of China, Aug. 24, 2020.Li Keqiang and Lao Prime Minister Thongloun co-chaired the meeting.Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia, President Win Myint of Myanmar, Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha of Thailand and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam attended the meeting.Li said the Lancang-Mekong cooperation is born of water.The six Lancang-Mekong countries drink from the same river, like one family.Not long ago, President Xi Jinping called on all countries to work for more inclusive global governance, more effective multilateral mechanisms and more active regional cooperation. China appreciates the active efforts made by all countries in the mechanism to promote regional cooperation.Li put forward a six-point proposal on strengthening Lancang-Mekong cooperation, pointing out that China's development will bring more cooperation opportunities to Mekong countries and the rest of the world.China looks forward to working with Mekong countries to deepen and expand Lancang-Mekong cooperation and inject more vitality into the development and

    prosperity of the sub-region and the region at large.The participating leaders spoke highly of the rich achievements of LMC and fully agreed with Li Keqiang's initiative on strengthening institutional cooperation. The leaders noted that LMC has played an important role in promoting regional economic and social development, improving people's livelihood, consolidating peace and security, and enhancing mutual understanding and trust.The parties fully recognize the progress made in water resources cooperation and are ready to deepen cooperation with China on the Lancang-Mekong Economic Development Belt, align with the "new corridor for international land and sea trade" and enhance connectivity.Li Keqiang and other leaders also attended the handover ceremony for Myanmar to take over as the next co-chair of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation.The meeting issued the Vientiane Declaration of the Third Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders' Meeting and the Co-Chairmen's Statement of the Third Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders' Meeting on the Docking and Cooperation between the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation and the "New Corridor of International Land and Sea Trade".
