Wang Yi Holds Talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh of Vietnam

    On August 23, 2020, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh of Vietnam in Dongxing, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Wang Yi noted, today we jointly commemorated the 20th anniversary of delimitation of the China-Vietnam boundary on land as well as the 10th anniversary of setting up pillars to demarcate the border, summarized useful experience and made clear the objectives for the work in the next stage. We also visited the exhibition hall where President Ho Chi Minh held friendly activities in the border regions between China and Vietnam. All these activities are of great significance, which let us feel once again that our friendship today does not come easily, the common development and prosperity of the border areas between China and Vietnam and the prosperity of the two socialist countries does not come easily. Every generation has its own responsibility. It is our responsibility to carry forward China-Vietnam friendship established by the older generations of the two countries, push forward the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, and

    develop and expand the socialist cause of the two countries.Wang Yi emphasized, amid the ongoing spread of the COVID-19 around the world, China and Vietnam have taken the lead in successfully controlling the epidemic and resuming economic and social development, which reflects the institutional advantages and cooperation results. We believe that China-Vietnam relations will become stronger and more robust after experiencing the test of the epidemic. Pham Binh Minh expressed, the commemoration is of great significance. The Vietnamese side attaches great importance to relations with China and regards the development of Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership as a diplomatic priority. It is hoped that the two sides will resume high-level exchanges as soon as possible and accelerate economic and trade cooperation on the basis of well implementing regular epidemic prevention and control measures. The two sides also exchanged in-depth views on international and regional issues of common concern.
