Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s Conduct A Successful Visit to Four Countries in SEA

    At the invitation of State Counselor and Foreign Minister Daw Aung San Suu Kyi of Myanmar, Foreign Minister Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi of Indonesia, Second Foreign Minister Dato Seri Paduka Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof of Brunei, and Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro Lopez Locsin of the Philippines, Wang had paid official visits to the four countries from last Monday(January 11th) to Saturday(January 16th ). Just one day after wrapping up an intensive visit to five African countries in six days, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi embarked on his second overseas journey in the New Year to Southeast Asia on Monday (11th January).

    Analysts from China and ASEAN countries firmly believe that Minister Wang Yi’s visit will not only help consolidate China-ASEAN friendship but also bring plenty of mutual benefits to both parties. During the meaningful visit, Minister Wang Yi had discussed with heads of government in these countries about the cooperation on vaccination. In addition, China and Myanmar signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Sunday to conduct feasibility study of a railway linking Mandalay, the country's second largest city in Myanmar's central region, with Kyaukphyu, the major town in Myanmar's Rakhine state.
